Blackline — Don Rune Kade

Every shipment that leaves the harbor, leaves on his terms.

Origin story

Rune Kade started on the cranes, not behind a desk — one of the last operators the harbor trusted with manual override on equipment the city kept promising to replace. What set him apart wasn't ambition in any obvious sense. It was a habit of noticing what didn't add up on the shipping manifests, and within a few years he knew exactly which customs officers looked the other way, and for how much.

He didn't take over Iron Docks. He absorbed it, one reliable delivery at a time. When a shipment went wrong under his watch, Kade ate the loss himself rather than let a client walk away burned — an expensive habit early on, and the reason traders eventually came looking for him instead of the other way around. Blackline doesn't run on fear. It runs on the fact that it has never once failed to deliver what it promised.

These days Kade manages the crew the way he once managed a crane: nothing wasted, nothing left to chance. Call him aggressive and you're not wrong, but it rarely looks like aggression. It looks like a competitor discovering, all at once, that every supplier they relied on switched sides overnight.

He rarely writes off an enemy without offering them a way to become useful first. Stay loyal and Blackline pays well and leaves you alone. Cross it, and Kade's patience runs out long before he forgets why.

Character

Kade doesn't threaten. He states outcomes, calmly, the way a foreman reads out a shift schedule — and lets the certainty do the intimidating.

Notable moments
