Iron Docks

The southern tip where the city began — where every shipment passes through, and no one asks what's inside.

Iron Docks — night-time street scene in THUG

Iron Docks is an industrial peninsula of crane yards, rail spurs, and wet concrete quays where every crew in the city, sooner or later, has to do business. Nothing here changes hands in one move — access, ownership, and reputation get built the slow way, one delivery at a time.

History

The harbor came first. Long before anyone drew city limits on a map, boats were already unloading here — fish at first, then anything too heavy or too illegal to move by road. Three generations of crane operators built the skyline one section at a time, each addition a little taller and a little less accountable to whoever technically held the permits.

Nobody who works the docks talks about the routes directly. They don't have to. Every warehouse along the waterfront carries just enough legitimate paperwork to make the rest invisible, and the workers who've been here longest know exactly which loading bay to avoid on a given night. That knowledge doesn't get written down. It gets inherited.

Two names run the district now: Blackline and Breakwater. Rune Kade built the first on a principle nobody in the harbor questions — a crew that never misses a delivery earns more trust than one that wins every fight. Tor Vale built the second on the opposite bet: speed beats reputation, if you're willing to lose sometimes. Neither has managed to push the other out, and after years of trying, both have quietly stopped expecting to.

Salt and diesel hang in the air at all hours, and the stillness that settles over the quays at night isn't peace — the cranes keep moving, just not for the people whose names used to be on the payroll. Anyone chasing honest work at the harbor learns fast that "honest" bends further here than the word usually allows, and that the quickest way to get hurt is asking why a container took the long way to its warehouse.

Whoever controls what enters this district controls, indirectly, what every other district can build with. Nobody wrote that rule down. It's just how the harbor works.
