The Ledger — Don Noir Sorel

Sorel doesn't sell secrets. She sells the introduction to whoever's holding them.

Origin story

Sorel grew up behind the counter of a café her family had run for three generations — the kind of place regulars talked at more than to, which meant she learned early that people give up their best secrets for free if you just let them keep talking. She never had to steal information. It arrived.

Where most information brokers lean on pressure, Sorel built The Ledger on the opposite foundation: trust, patiently earned and never spent carelessly. She rarely reveals anything herself. Instead she introduces people who need each other and lets the deal complete on its own, taking a cut as the only visible price of admission. She's mediated more disputes between rival crews than any other Don in the city — not out of kindness, but because a city at war stops talking, and a Ledger nobody talks to has nothing left to sell.

Cross her — resell a secret that passed through her hands, burn an informant she vouched for — and her network turns on you with a speed that surprises people who mistook her warmth for softness.

Character

Sorel listens more than she speaks, and when she does speak it's usually to offer a deal that benefits everyone at the table — including, always, The Ledger.

Notable moments

  • Brokered a ceasefire between two rival crews on the edge of open war
  • Built the city's largest informant network without ever issuing a threat
