Nox started as a doorman at one of the Mile's smaller clubs, at a time when the strip was still a dozen independent owners competing each other into the ground. What Nox saw and nobody else did: a unified nightlife scene would out-earn ten fragmented ones every night of the week, and whoever consolidated first would never have to ask permission again.

The takeover wasn't subtle, and Nox never pretended otherwise. Club by club — buyout, pressure, the occasional vanished liquor license — Velvet Circuit absorbed most of the Mile's physical nightlife inside five years. Every night is another chance to take ground from Backchannel, and that appetite rarely knows when to stop on its own.

Rivals who underestimate Nox tend to make the same mistake: assuming loud means slow. It's the opposite. By the time a competitor notices what's happening, there's already a new bouncer at the door with Nox's name behind it.
