Neon Mile
The only street in the city that never sleeps — and never forgets who was watching.
Neon Mile is the city's central artery: a narrow strip of clubs and casinos that only really wakes up after midnight. Money moves faster here than anywhere else in the city, and it's rarely counted twice.
History
Nobody remembers exactly when the Mile became the Mile. The strip existed as a transit route long before it had a name — the shortest walk between the harbor and the rest of the city, which meant every dockworker, courier, and trader passed through eventually. Cafés opened to catch them. Then bars. Then something louder.
By day it's a flat, unremarkable row of shuttered fronts. After dark it becomes a single unbroken chain of doors, and the line outside the busiest ones never seems to get shorter no matter how late it gets.
Kira Nox runs the visible half of it — clubs, door staff, marquee names — and does it loudly, taking new territory the way other Dons take meetings: constantly, publicly, without much patience for subtlety. Jax Morrow runs the half nobody sees, a network of hosts and bartenders feeding information back from private rooms dressed up as luxury. The two need each other more than either would admit. Nox's crowds are what makes Morrow's listening posts worth running; Morrow's warnings are what let Nox move before a rival crew even finishes planning.
Speed is the only currency that matters here. Old Quarter forgives patience. The Mile punishes it — whoever hesitates on a deal loses it to somebody who didn't.
